English viola by John Chadwick, 1975

The second instrument from the property of a deceased musician, this beautiful modern English viola was built by John Chadwick in Bebington in 1975. It is a masterpiece of unmistakeable individuality, that was crafted with utmost care down to the finest detail. The soundholes and the purfling are tastefully executed and examples of best quality craftsmanship; the large scroll is an elegant work full of character. Richly applied oil varnish, highly transparent and of beautiful, orange-brown color covers the excellently selected tonewoods. Our luthiers thoroughly set up this viola, so we can offer it in perfect condition and immediately ready to play. We recommend its warm, precise sound, that is well-balanced, with light character and features strong resonance.
