French J. P. Gerard viola bow, 1980's

This excellent French J. P. Gerard viola bow was probably made by Ary France in Mirecourt, it is a very good quality and very handy French piece of work made around 1980. The round stick of good strength is stamped J. P. Gerard on shaft. The stick is of very good tension and elasticity and plays notably strong and active at useful strength producing a clear, strong, French tone. The ebony frog is nickel mounted with a Pearl eye and pearl slide. With a weight of 71.9 g and a centered balance point, slightly inclidced towards the tip this bow is very hand and easy to play. This French J. P. Gerard viola bow is offered undamaged, with new hair and works well with most instruments and produces a bright, clear, strong, typically French tone.
