Antique French violin, c.1920, Collin-Mezin Collaborateur

Mirecourt in France is the origin of this attractive antique French violin of character that was made on the Collin-Mezin model and has an outstandingly large and warm tone in the price range. This good instrument is a handmade piece of work of the early 20th century around 1920 - and it likely originates from the workshops of Laberte in Mirecourt, where it was made after Collin-Mezin and probably for the Collin-Mezin company as indicated by a Collin-Mezin "Collaborateur" (co-worker) label. Some typical features of the early 20th century Mirecourt instruments is the elegant model with medium arch and the transparent yet luminous red brown varnish reflecting the violin's genuine antique appearance. The general condition of the violin is excellent, it is despite a short repair of the top seam hidden under the tailpiece undamaged and crackfree. As all Corilon instruments, the violin has been professionally worked over set up by our luthiers and is equipped with a new bridge, soundpost, etc. and new strings, ready to play. This good French violin's rich, warm and powerful tone is balanced and rich in volume.
