This cello bow is a fine work by C. Hans-Karl Schmidt. Christian Hans-Karl Schmidt received international recognition as early as 1969, when two of his bows were awarded gold medals in Liège. He quickly developed into a renowned expert, particularly for bows of the German school, and is now regarded as the "most famous German bow maker of the 20th century". His choice of models was initially based on Kurt Dölling's basic pattern and the French models by F. N. Voirin and E. Sartory. In Dresden, he also frequently made his bows according to the F. X. Tourte pattern. Since the 1980s, he has exclusively used the classic German models by L. Bausch and H. Knopf as models. Memberships in renowned organizations such as the "Entente International des Luthiers et Archetiers" (EILA) testify to his international networking and recognition. The cello bow offered here was built around 1980. The firm, round stick made of high-quality, light brown pernambuco bears the original stamp of C. Hans-Karl Schmidt. The cello bow was fitted with a pretty, nickel-silver mounted frog. The finely and tastefully crafted head reveals an experienced hand. The broad, centrally located center of gravity, which is measured at 23.4 cm of the total length of 71.1 cm, provides excellent playing characteristics. We offer this fine C. Hans-Karl Schmidt cello bow ready to play, with a special recommendation for its fast response and its radiant and precise sound.
