Antique 1/2 violin from Klingenthal, circa 1900

Antique children's violins are true rarities that often feature an especially good and mature sound - just like this instrument, that was built approx. 1900 in Klingenthal. The violin is a successfully crafted instrument that was built after a model with flat arching; the small, delicate scroll determines its unmistakably individual character. The yellow-brown varnish is typical for the provenance of the violin. Undamaged and completely worked-over by our luthier, the violin is in very good condition, with several traces of use and patina on the varnish, as they are common for instruments of that age. We applied new pegs and a chinrest made of rosewood and offer the violin worked over and ready to play. Its dark sound is mature and warm with good volume in the lower ranges and a fine and precise character in the upper ranges - excellent musical features, that are rarely found at student´s violins and therefore very recommendable.
