Petite Markneukirchen viola, a masterpiece made around 1880

The viola model is chosen after Antonius Stradivarius and built in a smaller size, with a body length of 39.4 cm. The top is made of fine grained spruce of finest quality, the two piece back of deeply flamed maple. The typical Markneukirchen varnish is of an intense dark brown color over a yellow ground. The large scroll is carefully and very aesthetically crafted, the fine purfling well executed. This small Markneukirchen viola is with a small repair to the left soundhole in perfect playing condition, well played in, and has very nice dark and warm sound with good volume for this size, the tone is well balanced with easy response.
