This rare masterpiece was handmade in the year 1946 by the skilled luthier Johann Röder in Landshut. Before, Rödig had spent many years in Italy and Cremona to further develop his excellent violin making skills and to bring his abilities to perfection. In 1930 he received in honor a degree and the silver medal from the "Instituto musicale Cesare Pollimi, Padua" in Italy. The Italian influence is obvious in the modelling, the fine structured, honey-toned varnish and in the details of the elegant scroll. The sound of the violin has the "Italian" character as well. The violins huge carrying tone is very powerful, bright and rich in overtones. Having a mellow undertone in the lower ranges adds a recondite character to the instrument. Röders fourth work of the year 1946 is in excellent condition and ready to play.
