This historic Vogtland master violin stamped I G V was crafted around 1800 in the Vogtland region of Saxony. The original brand stamp I G V may refer to Johann Gottfried Voigt. It was unmistakably influenced by the Vogtland region's classic design, although at the same time it reflects a strong influence by the old Italian masters. Medium arching curves resembling the Italian masters shapes the aesthetic of this well preserved Vogtland master violin, as does the one-piece back of maple with interesting grain cut from the slab. This beautiful Vogtland master violin is preserved in remarkable condition, despite a repair to the bottom rib it is crackfree and it is like all instruments from us immediatley ready to play. Its bright voice has a warm character to it, which serves as further proof of the sound quality which has made historic violins from Saxony an inside tip amongst demanding musicians.
