Virtuoso craftsmanship and a fine sense for aesthetic details characterize the appearance of this Lorenzo Locatelli violin: The contemporary Cremonese master crafted tonewoods with excellent sound characteristics with a sure hand, whose striking grain he made shine with a thick layer of his typical red varnish in a subtle sheen. Moderately grained spruce was used for the top, and the back, ribs and scroll were crafted from deeply flamed maple, giving the violin its strikingly beautiful individuality. The perfectly executed purfling and the delicate purfling of the corners and edges show the hand of an experienced master.
