German violin from Mittenwald. Guarnerius model, 1930'ies

This German violin from Mittenwald in Bavaria is a clear work of good craftsmanship, that was handmade in the early 20th century around 1930. It is probably an apprentice piece that was made under the supervision of the master, which can be seen in the somewhat unskillfully made details and the overall good technical concept of this good sounding instrument. The spruce that was used for the top is medium grained, a beautiful tonewood from the Karwendel mountains, just as the flamed maple of the two-piece back. The attractive orange-brown colored varnish bears many traces from playing but no serious issue affect the quality of this good instrument that features a flat arching. This old Mittenwald violin was worked over meticulously by our luthiers with new ebony pegs, a new bridge, soundpost, chinrest and strings. This recommendable Mittenwald violin is offered ready to unfold its powerful, clear, mature, and in the upper ranges ringing and singing bright sound.
